3" Y-Pipe/Crossover
I just bought the Hooker Cat Back exhaust which has the 3" connection to the catalytic converter and also got the catalytic converter which has the 3" inlet. The original Y-Pipe on my '90 5.0 TPI IROC has the 2.5" Y-Pipe and I have been looking around but cannot find a 3" Y-Pipe.
Anyone seen one that is a direct fit repacement for this?

Re: 3" Y-Pipe/Crossover
I have been having the same problem. Looks like our best bet would be to get these and have someone bend and weld a 3'' after the Y, however i have also yet to find a 3" main pipe to the rear so that might have to be made as well. Im lucky enough to have an uncle with a muffler shop so im not sure how much someone would charge to do it all.

Re: 3" Y-Pipe/Crossover
I know the Hooker 2055 Shorty Headers come with a Y-pipe that's a direct bolt in for a 3" exhaust. I have them on my car and I didn't have to move anything from my exhaust, it literally bolted right in. First "bolt in" that was actually a "bolt in"...lol

Re: 3" Y-Pipe/Crossover
I have found a short term solution with a converter pipe I had made at my local Meineke shop. Had them make up a 4' in length piece that goes over the output of the 2.5" Y-Pipe to the inlet of the 3" CAT.
Cost me $20, but for now it will do and I don't have to fool around with the exhaust manifolds or Y-Pipe, just getting a new CAT and CAT Back exhaust. Probably look at doing headers next year.
Going to put it all on today!
I still can't beleive that no one makes a Y-Pipe to fit the stock exhaust manifolds to a 3" output to the CAT?

Re: 3" Y-Pipe/Crossover
Wow, I wish i could afford those
Thankfully i have an uncle that has a muffler shop and bender so i can just use the headman and modify after the collector. The ironic thing is, the collector after the Y-Pipe is a 3'' collector with a 2.5'' fitted to it. you can even see where they reduced it.

Magnaflow makes the pipe - part # 16450:

I installed it in place of the stock Y pipe just based on the looks of the shape of the bends. And also installed a 3" cat. Sounds great and fits perfectly.
This is a wonderful piece, I would recommend it if you are keeping stock manifolds.

I have been doing a little price shopping but see this only fits up to an '89 according to the compatibilty charts. Probably will fit my '90, but has anyone encountered any diifferences in the pre '90 stock exhaust manifolds for connecting the Y-Pipes?
Just trying to check out before I commit to buying this!
