Headers... what to do to install... not a mechanical question.
Headers... what to do to install... not a mechanical question.
The actual bolting on I'll figure out but tips are appreciated. My question is about all the little tubes on the factory manifolds. I actually traded for a set of Hedman shortys and y pipe. The headers don't have any provisions for the little tubes so can I use these headers? If so what exactly is it I'm getting rid of deleting the little tubes? Is it the AIR system like on a LS1 car? I'm L98 retarded. Also how can I tell if I've got the stock L98 exhaust. The Y pipe and catback look gigantic honestly, 2 3/4 or 3 inch. The car is pretty much quiet as a mouse. Sounds like stock exhaust to me it just looks like a awfully big pipe to be restrictive. What would happen if I just added the shortys and removed the cat and used the stock catback? Sound like a bad idea? Thanks

get some egr and air blocker plates from jegs, or fab them, they're really simple. no matter what you do with the rest of the exaust headers will still give you a performance increase over.
getting rid off the cat will free up close to no power, leave it on and do the environment a favor.

Where you live do you have to have the AIR system? Ask your inspector I suppose. What year is your car?
On my 87 All I had to do was take off the pulley on the passenger side and fish the tubes out from behind the block(which was a pain in the rear)

I was also wondering what to do with those tubes. I figured it was just the EGR tubes, and that they could be blocked off.
