Adding a cat ONTO a straight piped camaro?!

So I've got the deal of a lifetime on an 89 Iroc, it was from out of state though. In the state I bought it in, mass, it's emissions exempt for a few years now. Being that, the owner of the car straight pipe'd it with a new exhaust. It's retuned for not having a cats and life is grand. But when I bring it into Connecticut, they're going to make me have it emissions tested, because connecticut is 25 years old to be exempt (retarded). So my question is, what kind of process do I need to go through in order to do this? If it makes a difference it's a 350 with 4 barrel edelbrock carb, 3 inch no-name exhaust.

EDIT: I do plan on reversing what ever measures I do to make it pass emissions once it passes

I can find no articles about this anywhere. It's OBD1 I believe, is it as simple as just taking out the test pipe and putting in a cat?

Depends on how the exhasut is set up, you might be able to just cut a section out of the Y-pipe or remove the test pipe if it has one and install a cat, being OBDI it will just be a tailpipe test. How modded is the engine? that will have alot do do if it passes or not. Also make sure once you get a cat on it you run the car and get it nice and hot right before the test. I would have to see some pix of your exhasut set up before I could advise on a cat set up.
