recommended exhaust system for 92 firebird 5.0L
So I want to replace my entire exhaust line from the exhaust manifold back. Pipe going from exhaust manifold to the cat is in the shape of a T to connect the exhaust from each manifold. It's highly inefficient and definitely want something better. Any recommendations for the entire exhaust line? Thanks all!

What 305 do you have? Tuned Port Injection or Throttle Body Injection? Just got to double check, should be TBI if its just a firebird. For headers I would recomend hooker 2055's (although I can't say I have personal experiance with these), got to have a custom Y-Pipe made, High flow cat, and get a 3" cat back system. I suggest a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. I has a great sound. Best of luck to you mate.

Sorry, it's a TBI. I think I want to avoid headers just so I don't blow a gasket, melt anything, etc. I'm not looking to race, just simply install a better flowing system than what I have.

Are you sure a custom Y-pipe has to be made, and there aren't any that I can just buy that will fit a 5.0L TBI?

You should be fine with headers, that's a standard mod on these cars and I've never heard of anyone having problems with them (provided that there aren't wires or hoses in contact with them), and the exhaust manifolds are the main area of restiction. If you want a better flowing sytem, that is where to start. There are some Y pipes that are made for these headers, but you may be able to get a custom one made for less.

Looks like the 2055's won't fit on my car (since I have a 5.0L TBI). Instead, the Hooker 2460HKR's will fit, but the problem is the only y-pipe that appears to go with it is the Hooker 16767. Unfortunately, this y-pipe has a 2.5" outlet, but I'd much prefer a 3" cat back. I can't believe there isn't a y-pipe that has a 3" outlet for these headers or any Hooker headers that will fit my engine.
