On my 92 camaro rs 305. It had stock manifolds stock tbi system. With flowmaster catback. The exhaust stunk then and it stinks now. But now i have a edelbrock 600 carb on it with a cam and shorty headers with dual straight pipes all the way back witj two 40 series flowmasters. No cats. Theres no exhaust leaks amd its not running rich. It just has a bad exhaust fumes smell. If your out in an open parking lot next to the car while its running fpr 2 mins and you walk inside. Your clothes amd yourself smell like exhaust. I know peopleare going to say its the cats. But ive been around older muscle cars with no cats and it doesnt smell anywhere as bad as my car does. Could it be that my motor has close to 200,000 on it and its the carbon and other crap makin it smell so bad?

I know with 2 stroke engines the smell is bad and it gets all over you, but their gas is mixed with oil. Maybe you're burning a little bit of oil?
2 strokes smell amazing! I love the smell of a good 2 stroke... mmm.. But a gasoline engine burning oil doesnt really smell like that.
Is it a sulfur/rotten eggs smell? -> bad cat
Is it a burnt oil smell? -> bad rings/valve seals
Is it a gas smell? -> Running rich
Does it smell like a lawnmower? - Just the nature of not running cats

Running lean can actually make it smell bad and have more of an eye burning effect than a rich condition.

Well it cant be his cats since the message states no cats. I agree on the lean condition, my 08 silverado smelled terrible specially when id stand on it.

That's a lot of carb for that engine. I ran into the same issue. Rejetted the carb a step down and it made a world of difference.
