Just had a Flowmaster super 44 put on my '85 z28 with stock 305 and its quieter than ever. I knew it wouldnt be crazy loud without headers but I expected more than a barely noticeable rumble. What gives?

 

The cat reduces noise a bit. what size pipe you using?

 

Why do u expect the super 44 to be loud??? Th44 is quieter than the 40 and the super is mellower than the standard. If u want louder go with a 40, 80 or one of the race mufflers. Stock manifolds, planing and cat all quiet things down too

 

I have a 40 on my suburban and it wakes the neighbors lol, try that one

 

The super 44 is advertised as Flows most aggressive sounding muffler so I assumed it should be louder than any of the 40s. I know with stock exhaust manifolds and cat it will quiet it down but this is barely louder than a stock muffler.

 

upgrade to 3 in pipe and it will make a difference.
