need advice on exhaust system
Hello all, I have tried searching but haven't come up with the answers I'm needing. My car is a 92 rs 305/t5 and has a full emissions delete by the previous owner. My problem is the current setup i have is pretty much toast ' the car has unknown wrapped headers no cats to a what he called "custom y" pipe and the flange on the header has broken off and the exhaust is leaking in multiple places. What I'm looking for is a complete setup to replace everything from the headers back. Problem is I don't know what to buy, will a catback bolt to the new headers even though I don't have cats or am I pretty much stuck having a shop bend and weld me some pipes in? I would prefer a bolt in setup over having a shop do it but so far I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. All suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Re: need advice on exhaust system
I could use advice as well there are so many brands options I'm lost.
I need a new everything including a new cat.
For a 1991 3.1 v6 Camaro
Looking for the best exhaust set up for best fuel economy not wanting it to be loud just a solid sound.
Need: ?
New CAT for California
2.5 pipes
Y PIPE
MUFFLER
I don't need headers right ?
I can spend up to 850$ max

I'm in the same boat, I'm looking for about the same thing. Needing it for a 305 tpi. Thinking 2 1/2", single muffler (someone said there isnt enough room for duals without being super expensive), need it to pass CO emissions. The little research I did I think I'm leaning towards flowmaster or magnaflow any thoughts??

Re: need advice on exhaust system
OP if you get Hooker 2055s (plug weld or cap the A.I.R. tubes) or Dyno Don's they come with a Y-pipe, then get the cat back of your choosing in 3" cut the flange off the cat back and expand the pipe if you don't need/want a cat, then you'll just need a section of straight 3" the length of the long lost cat expanded on one end to slip over the Y pipe, slide it on, slide the cat back onto it, done.
Don't know the emissions standards in Cali or CO, but 2055s are carb approved, I think you just need an approved cat. We only have visual here on OBD-I thankfully.

Re: need advice on exhaust system
ok im going to give you set ups and videos of my current car and my GTA. IMHO the Borla catback sounds the best. With the option to "tune" it via block off plates you can go from loud and throaty to quiet and clean. my red GTA had Hooker 2055 headers with a 3 inch catco cat and the Borla Cat back with no adjustment plates in. meaning the passenger side exhaust is 100% flow through
and here is my formula with SLP headers, Dual cat setup and once again to adjustment plates
there are many other clips on the this forum and others.
