rear side exit exhaust - anyone done it before?
Looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to get the tail pipes to exit out the side behind the rear wheels instead of straight out the back. Just find some 45 degree elbows and slash cut them flush with the body.There's probably no gain in hp, or mpg, but it might sound different.

You can probably have an exhaust shop fab you up new tips from one of the many crossflow mufflers that fit these cars. I know that my flowmaster cat back...it would work. Just a couple of turndowns right behind the rear wheels.

i had been running hedman shorties and y-pipe when i first got my car running. 2.5" pipe, short glass pack, ovaled tube exiting at the right rear tire. it was rather high pitched, but the idle sounded good. there wasnt any rasp though.
