borla xr-1 racing muffler
anyone got this on their cars?? im thinking about cutting my pipe under the car getting rid of everything after it and just putting the muffler right under the passenger seat where the piping starts to turn and run to the back. i like the look of my tips but i just dont like the sound of the 80 series and the restrictiveness of the muffler. im gonna be getting the round muffler

Let alone the amount of ground clearance you'd lose in this process.
If you really want a Borla XR1, then just buy a XR-1 and put it in place of your flowmaster. There is no need to hack up the car the wrong way to do what you want.

I wouldn't do it. Muffler right at the outlet of the y-pipe sounds like puke, and is REALLY loud. Better off waiting and getting a full exhaust.

I have done it a few times replacing the cat with a borla will not cost you any ground clearance the xr1 is fairly loud even with pipe all the way out the back but IMO having the muffler at the rear of our cars kills the sound alot.

Re: borla xr-1 racing muffler
Do it! Dual exits are lame and heavy. Run It over the axle and make it a hidden tip like the mufflex kits did. My current setup has a Dynatech race muffler where the factory cat was. Sounds good with my 6 banger, sounded awesome with my 600hp SBC..
A 40 series flow sounds good in the cat location and dumped out the passenger side.. I had this on my STOCK 305 TPI setup and had more compliments than I ever remember.
The 80 series flow is the worst setup ever on a stock car, it's a little better with headers, no cats...
True Dual exhaust is a heavy, expensive, impossible fitting endevor!!! I've helped friends do it...not cool. not worth it
