exhaust leak

is it normal for an exhaust to only make the ticking noise just while driving and not at idle or in park or nuetrel while revving the engine cause i have a strange tick that sounds like an exhaust leak that follows my rpms while driving but when its in park or neutrel and i rev the motor it doesnt do it. i also recently installed the bosch III 22lb injectors and heard they are known for ticking but i didnt think it would be ticking like this, any info would help greatly

Re: exhaust leak

If your exhaust is leaking, try to identify where. If you get down to ground level, you should be able to spot where the leak is by the "sputtering" sound a leaky exhaust makes. Does it sound like it's coming from the engine bay? If so, check for carbon deposits somewhere around your exhaust/exhaust manifold to help identify the leak. A leak should be fairly easy to see if you can get under the car. If you can't find one, I'd look elsewhere for that ticking noise.

Re: exhaust leak

I have a very similar exhaust leak when some header bolts came loose.

Sounded like a tick or almost a miss. Tightened the manifold bolts and problem solved.
