Exhaust heat shield vs driveshaft loop?

Exhaust heat shield vs driveshaft loop?
When a driveshaft loop is installed, am I supposed to cut off the heat shield that follows the intermediate pipe from the cat exit to where it heads parallel to the driveshaft to the rear? Right now, the loop is in the way, and removing the loop (not really necessary, but...) is going to leave so many holes in the floor...
