header/manifold

Hey guys.I am currently taking my exhaust apart to replace a busted cat.and when I was there.I removed the Y pipe and manifolds.I was gonna install a set of shorty headers I had laying around(not sure what brand or what they where intended for)
But anyways there pretty tight.not much room in the bay.
So I was wondering if the special yes ones fitted as tight ?
And if so is there a log style header avalible for these cars

Thanks

Re: header/manifold

Long tube headers won't work well for Auto transmission cars at all.

I'd recommend the Hooker 2055 Shorty headers or Dyno Don's shorty headers. Both are specifically designed to fit our cars and come with a Y-pipe.

Re: header/manifold

Well I reinstalled my manifolds .as its too tight in the engine bay for headers for my liking.
I did get all new bolts and gaskets to reinstall manies Y-pipe and cat.
For now maybe down the road I can get f body headers that should fit better.

Re: header/manifold

Ive ran long tube headers in both my 87 firebird, that one was snug, and my current 91 camaro fit well both auto trans, the headers in my camaro i think belong in a truck, ive scraped an dented the bottom tubes.

What are the lines coming out of my manifold?

I have some sort of silver lines coming out of each manifold. There are 4 per side and they have vaccume tubes going to a filter. What are they? If I take them off what will it do to my engine? Will I have to take anything else out of my car?

A.I.R system. It's related to emissions. search the forums.
