Hedman 68470 Hedders and protecting from heat

Hi.

Recently dropped engine back in and fitted Hedman 68470 Hedders. My plan was to wrap them to protect the engine bay from excessive heat, however the instructions say not to do this. Whats the best way people have found to protect components, such as brake lines, which are under 1 inch away!

Thanks

Jay

Re: Hedman 68470 Hedders and protecting from heat

Buy some different Headers! I had a pair of these and they actually warped at the flange, and the primary tube actually rubbed the chassis on the driver's side, causing a wear spot on the header. They were nothing but a hastle. I bought a set of Ceramic Coated Shorty Hookers, they help protect surrounding components by routing the exhaust by your components and keep the temp under the hood down. If you're dead set on wrapping them, you can do it to the Hookers, not the Hedmans. If the Hedmans are what you're stuck with, brake lines can be re-routed, and shields can be fabricated to shield them from the heat without wrapping the headers themselves.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I am stuck with them for the next year or so. Guess I will be relocating the brake lines etc. Jay
