new exhaust header gaskets

ok so I installed exhaust header gaskets and I go to start the car up and im still getting a leak im wondering if the headers are warped or if the gaskets aren't just sealing correctly im using felpro exhaust manifold gaskets im wondering if I should get copper gaskets and see if those will work better

Re: new exhaust header gaskets

copper gaskets are good . prep & torque sequence is VITAL . first make sure surfaces that mate to block are smooth and flat . IMPORTANT , tighten from the center outward . tighten 2 center , then 2 inboard on front & rear pipes , then 2 out board on front and rear pipes . then go back and re-torque in same sequence . repeat torque sequence several times . start run engine , cool down , re-torque follow sequence above . do this several times , IMPORTANT , follow above sequence . did I mention its IMPORTANT to follow above sequence ??? good luck ..............

Re: new exhaust header gaskets

I have had a ton of luck with these when felpro would not seal.

I use the Percey's crushable gaskets. 5 years and no leak so far...lol I just jinxed myself.
