Questions regarding cherry bombs and dual/single pipes.

Edit: I'm not 100% decided on specifically the Cherry Bomb brand, I just want to hear the 350 more inside my car. Glasspacks, Cherry Bombs, or some other option I'm unaware of are all possibilities.

I'd really love to put some cherry bombs under my 82 Camaro with a 350. How would that work on an F-body car, considering their famously cramped underside for exhaust piping? Right now I've got a Magnapack splitter muffler that I'm not too happy with. It sounds great at higher RPM, but at idle and cruise I have to roll down the windows to really even hear it inside the car. All the wind noise from the old horrible weather stripping doesn't help either.

Would it be best to just use a single outlet and forget the dual outlet I currently have? I'm thinking it might be best to just use a single 3" or 3.25" pipe and either dump it out the back on one side (like factory) or under the car so you can't see the exhaust. What do you think? Thank you for your time.

Here is a demonstration of my current exhaust setup:

Yeah I really like the look of duals, but I just don't know how to make a transversely mounted muffler like I have louder in the cabin and on the street. As far as I know (could be wrong) straight-through mufflers like glasspacks and Cherry Bombs tend to sound more "pure" and unmuffled, which is what I want. My Magnapack splitter muffler is designed specifically not to "drone" while cruising, but it's a 350 V8 and it wants to be heard! My old Crown Victoria Police Interceptor had a set of glasspacks (true dual exhaust) and it was louder than my Camaro with a lopey cam on a 350. Something about that isn't quite right.

If I had my way I'd drive around with open headers, but that's illegal. I just can't get enough of that carbed Chevy V8 sound. Nothing else like it and it's got me hooked. I just wish I could hear mine more!

Re: Questions regarding cherry bombs and dual/single pipes.

i'm running Hedman long tubes into a 2.5" Y pipe that i made myself that feeds into a long case Cherry Bomb 3" glasspack muffler with a 3" turnout in front of the right rear wheel.. it sounds pretty mean at idle and at light throttle, but it does get that glasspack "cackle" above about 5000rpm when driven in anger that i really don't like.. i keep telling myself i should just get a transverse mounted Flowmaster with 3" in and dual 3" outs because i think that's about the best sounding muffler for a single exhaust, but i keep finding excuses not to do it... poverty being the #1 reason..

I actually really like that cackle sound. Growing up I used to watch my uncle race at the local dirt track and they run open headers on those race cars. I guess that sound kinda brings me back, I love that sound.

My local exhaust shop is recommending a flo pro muffler. I'm leaning more towards Cherry Bomb, but I'm not sure if I should get an Extreme, Pro, or Vortex Cherry Bomb. Thoughts?

Re: Questions regarding cherry bombs and dual/single pipes.

My car came with a 2.5" y-pipe, single cherry bomb setup when I bought. Sounded gnarly. It ran on race gas, so compression may have had something to do with the sound, but that thing would spit. It sounded like open headers anywhere above idle. I took it off when I became a social worker. That thing scared children.
