got a question about flowtech headers

I got 88 gta
flowtech headers and y pipe

1 year and the gaskets that came with them new I think there melted there leaking and I can smell horrible exhaust leaking in to car

what ius by far the best gasket for thickness and high temp sealing

I used remflex for the 2 lower collecter gaskets the ones that came with the headers died in 1 month pretty pathetic

but anyways

I have seen copper alum even remflex

I just don't know what is the best and for possible slightly warped header flange

Re: got a question about flowtech headers

I have a set on my 5.0 TPI and I have no complaints. Some people hate them, but my car isn't a performance monster, just a weekend cruiser. I use Percy aluminum gasket with quality locking header bolts. I've never replaced a gasket in 10 years.

Re: got a question about flowtech headers

I tried the aluminum gasket, it worked fine but the bolts wouldn't stay tight for more than 3 engine cycles. I believe the key is the locking bolts. The main problem with the flow techs is the thin flange warps and pulls the bolts out.
