Cat hanger with TH350 trans
As said in the title I have a 87 iroc with a TH350 trans.Has anyone made or came up with a solution for the hanger that's attached to the rear of the cat-intermediate pipe joint?

Re: Cat hanger with TH350 trans
i could also use some help identifying these headers. I bought them used on ebay and was told they were Edelbrock but ive seen them as SLP also. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Those are definitely SLP. 409 stainless steel, no air injection. If they are 1 3/4", there is no way they will work with angle plug heads, so I've read.

Re: Cat hanger with TH350 trans
I have them installed to stock 350 heads now. Everything clears fine other than I needed to loosen up the driver side to get the 3 and 5 plug wires on. Problem is, the Y pipe that came with them is a welded up all wrong, hitting all over. I was trying to find a brand of the headers to see if they made a y pipe to go with them. If not I basically have to start from scratch with the whole thing.

Re: Cat hanger with TH350 trans
SLP only made stainless. 409 SS is not like a kitchen sink. Some stainless is even magnetic, just not as much as regular steel. 409 SS does turn brown, but it will not rust. ACCEL "shorty" header plugs will give you more clearance. You can buy, or make one yourself, a cut down spark plug socket that you can either use its 3/8 square drive, or the larger (7/8" I think) hex with a combination wrench.
There is a member on here that collects and sells SLP exhaust parts. I will see if I can find him and send you a link. I have the 1 5/8" SLP headers, with the SLP header Y pipe. I can send you a picture. I can't say for sure, but I think that header Y pipe is the same for both 1 5/8 and 1 3/4.
TTop350 - Always looking for SLP parts NOS, used CAIs, cams, headers, cat backs. PM me.

Re: Cat hanger with TH350 trans
Here are my SLP 1 5/8" headers with the matching y pipe.
Sorry, crappy old camera, but my pipe sizes are 2.25 OD and 3" OD at the outlet after the Y.
The pipe stub inside for each side measures 2.5".
I cut the air injection tubes off, and the I added the extension to the 45* bend for an exhaust cutout.
It would not be difficult at all to fabricate one of these y pipes.

Re: Cat hanger with TH350 trans
So for starters I just said they weren't stainless because my buddy welded the tubes with a mig welder and didn't think it would weld stainless, without being set up for it. And he did not know they were stainless either. But as far as making one I have no use of a bender and really didn't want to use 10 pieces to make it. If you could set me up with someone like u said that could maybe sell me one that would be fantastic. I did kind of cut this one apart at there welds and somewhat have it pieced together but with out a bender I just cant get it to fit nice. Thanks a lot for your help. Oh and I assume SLP don't make them anymore cause I don't see anything on there site about them. Thanks again

Mine will be used hopefully in the near future.
Nope, discontinued years ago.
You need to send a PM to TTOP350.
