Need help with Catback: SLP Loudmouth and 3rd gen
Hello guys
I need a catback for my 88 firebird GTA. She has hooker shorty headers and a good flowing catalytic converter. So I want a loud agressive sound, so I found the GMMG catback. Problem is to ship from the US to switzerland is about 600$ without the catback and that would be the cheapest way...
So something similar would be the SLP loudmouth, coming from Summitracing https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sle-31042a
On their site it doesn't say it will fit the third gen 350. Some say only cause of the hangers, but I see on the picture the hangers are also in the right place, aren't they? Is it difficult to match the catback to my l98 GTA?
Does anybody have a sound video with the SLP catback on a L98?
Thank you for your answers

Yes it will fit. I have a 4th gen Magnaflow on mine, got it long before they came out with their 3rd gen kit. If I remember correctly, the only modding that it needed was the pipe connection to the cat.

When I put a LM1 on my car, other than connecting to the old exhaust head pipe, was to swap the two hangers above the axle. There are two bolts holding each to the frame. The hangers are swappable- the holes are the same size and distance apart. I had the back half in in a short time.
Good luck!

3rd and 4th gen exhausts are basically the same. There are differences between the front connection (and even different years and models of third and 4th gen exhausts) and third and 4th gen exhausts used different hangers for the tailpipes.

Thank you for your answer. the catback has just arrived, it looks great but the main pipe is 3 inch inner diameter and the stock is 3 inch outer diameter? is this right? I hope it will fit the catalyc converter... (cat is new)

Sorry, I am mistaken. The outer diameter of the catback is 3" (7.62 cm) but I think the stock intermiediate pipe is not 3"? It looks smaller...
