2 1/4 to 3 catback

right now i have no cat and a 2 1/4 catback with a flowmaster 80 series. How much louder would it be with a 3 inch aerochamber catback 92 305

I've got the same problem. Should I convert to 2 3/4? I can get the pipe for pretty cheap. My Y-Pipe is 2 1/4 going to a 2 1/2 cat and cat-back. I'm hoping to go 2 1/4 from each header to a 3 or 2 3/4 collector of those 2, then finish either of those sizes back on the car. Which would be better for a 305? It's all stock right now except for the headers. Which size should I go for? I know everyone will say the 3".

Re: changing pipe sizes. It will not actually be much "louder", but the tone will noticably change making it seem louder. You'll probably like the difference.

Re: from Flows to Hooker, it will probably be slightly quieter, but I bet it'll also sound a lot nicer.
