Header installation
Header installation
I'm about to order the TES Edelbrock header system for my car. What else will I all need for instulation that is not included with it? Will the CATCO catalytic converter (that is also in the Summit catalogue) fit easily in my 89 IROC? And will it workwith the Flowmaster catback system?

What engine are you ordering them to fit? What was the cat back ordered to fit?
I did the same thing your doing. Yes the Catco will fit, but you'll have to cut the flange off the catback 'cuz the cat is a slip fit. If I had to do it over I would have gotten the SLP headers or others. Have never been able to get my headers to quit leaking, plus they're not true 1 5/8" headers. Plus the coating burned off and now they look like doo-doo.

I put the Edelbrock headers on a '91 Z-28 I had and it took about 12 hours to do. The more we worked on it, it seemed like more and more stuff had to come off, until we finally had to unbolt the engine and jack it up to fit the headers in. Anyway, I had no problems with leakage at the flange(head), but the collectors did leak quite badly. Now I don't know if that was a cheap design on the headers or not, but it seems that every set of headers I've ever had on any vehicle leak at the collector. I didn't have the coated ones, but I thought they looked pretty good. Maybe it is just me, but I thought they actually make my exhaust QUIETER!
