Suggestions???

I've got an '89 RS, 305 TBI. I want to more hp and a better sound than my stock exhaust. HP is the most important thing to me, but I also want an awesome sound. Any suggestions? My budget's about $300, but I can do the work. Thanks for any help.

dynomax makes a decent emissions legal header , i would have suggested slp , but you said your on a 300 dollar budget , the headers are more than that then you have to buy an install kit . you can get the dynomax y pipe and headers for about 350 so start saving or if you dont want to go with emissions legality (minus air tubes), there are plenty of headers for your 305 relativly cheap . if you want a good sound for now until you install headers , delete your cat (again the emissions issue pops up) , and put a flowmaster , borla or some sort of decent muffler on it . my car sounded real good when it used to be like that
