Air Pump cancellation results

I am sick of the Air pump; the new one literally got fused after less than a 1K miles! Besides, since I am posted overseas where smog regulations are extremely lackadaisical, I decided to get GM 10186167 idler pulley OR even use a 96.5" belt and reroute, leaving it w/o a pulley and be done with it but have two crucial Qs:
1) Do I simply plug in the connector side coming from the the AIR pedes, or, is it enough to stick in a piece of permeable material?
2) How, if at all, effect the engine? Except for the emissions and some meager gain of horsepower, will the car work error-free and just as usual?
Thanks much

You can use the same belt after routing it differently. It has been covered before

Thanks for the warning however I knew it was covered before but not only did it not have the answer to my Q, that article was advising 96.8 instead of the the same (94.5 stock) which does not work on mine and I have had already figured out the diff config anyway; my Q was about what to do with the open hole left out coming from the AIR pedes to the Air Pumps' rear connection hole and also about that setup's consequences in terms of any possible errors, rough idling, etc.
