shorty header installation
shorty header installation
i have a set of hooker comp shorties and i wanted to ask has anyone been able to install the right side headers without unbolting the motor mount and raising the engine with a board underneath the oil pan...do i have to do this? also how hard would it be to install motor mounts? just do that then put new ones in? id say if i have to do that its probably about time for motor mounts anyways so i might go ahead and do that

My dad and I completed the install in a weekend. We didn't rush or spend an incredible number of hours on it on any one day. If you were in a hurry I'm sure that you could get through the process faster than we did.
I used Dynomax Street-Series shorties with the AIR tubes cut off and the holes welded shut.

anything i should watch out for while doing the install?
bwahahahaha.... no, really, it'll go very smoothly, guaranteed.
think i could get it done in one full day?
If you have a competent helper and all the parts you need, definitely.
As far as the psgr side header, jack the car up a foot or two and drop the starter/solenoid (it's very easy, trust me). I haven't installed Hookers, but I'll bet you can get them in from below by doing this (I'm not making any guarantee, but this has worked for me and others). If you have A/C, good luck getting it in from above.

To get the driver's side header in you have to pull a bolt out of the steering colum that runs right past the engine. When you take the bolt out it'll pull apart and you can push it out of the way to allow the header to drop in. Once it's in you can push it back where it goes and put the bolt back in.

Sorry, I thought you ment psgr side by "right" side (I was thinking from the wrong angle).
On the driver's side, I also had to take the valve cover off (in add'n to what Mark said) to get it to fit.
