Looking for quiet but cheap mufflers

Anyone have experience with quiet and cheap mufflers? I need 2.25 and something I can add to keep from driving the neighbors crazy while I go in and out to get data for HPtuners. Thanks!

Re: Looking for quiet but cheap mufflers

When I got my 84 I replaced the obnoxiously loud muffler with a walker soundfx, from one of the local parts store.

Its much quieter.

I believe this is the part number for the 2.5 inlet, Walker Exhaust SoundFX 18375.

17836, I think is the 2.25 inlet, but you should double check that.

The Dynomax Super Turbo exhaust is pretty tame. It lets some low frequency rumble through, but none of the raspy higher frequencies like flomaster, magnaflow, etc. It's a pretty good flowing exhaust despite being quiet. It's also inexpensive.

Re: Looking for quiet but cheap mufflers

Dynomax is a brand name of Walker. Same company. Some of the same products are available under both brand names; some are distinct.

But in general, they're about the closest thing you can get to a stock replacement, with some added performance (reduced restriction), therefore either/both probably your best bet.

Re: Looking for quiet but cheap mufflers

Any local exhaust shop usually have OEM style mufflers hanging on the wall

I put one 3" unit on my turbo 5.3L I was able to make 450rwhp through it and its so quiet people still think the stock 4-cylinder is in the car

Re: Looking for quiet but cheap mufflers

Well, how how cheap is cheap and how quiet is quiet? What muffler is on there now? Sounds like my opinion may be different from the prior members as I think a Magnaflow is a good choice.
