Pardon my ignorance and yes I've searched but don't have the permissions to send PMs to folks yet as a new member.
Got an 87 TA last year. Car is fantastic. 3rd owner with an older ZZ4 crate motor slapped in to it. Needed a little love from sitting for years. Been redoing the brakes and bits that have been neglected from not being driven. Slapped a GMMG "car back" on it to replace the old exhaust that was showing its age but I want to get the old *** Edelbrock Y pipe replaced. It is not in the best shape.
Anyone have any recommendations of a Y pipe that fits? I just got done making a full exhaust for my other car before we moved to our new house and really don't feel like fabbing up a y pipe right this minute, I'm still getting my shop setup.
I saw Dyno Don (at least he used to) make replacements for them but I can't PM yet.
And I'd rather not swap out headers fully if it's possible, though I will if I have to. Trying to keep this one a cruiser to take my wife and kid out in....
Don still does the y pipe for the headers. I was in the same boat as you a few months ago and he was gonna make me just the y pipe for my Edelbrock headers. Then I decided to just use his headers. I had a zz4 w the Edelbrocks. Then I added the hot cam/1.6 roller rockers and fast burn heads (zz430 clone). I got the engine running w the Edelbrock headers and realized it would be a limiting factor so I made the swap to his full headers. You're limited what headers will bolt up to your d port heads. The edelbrocks work well as you know and dons will work well also. I'm thrilled w the work he does. The primaries on dons are larger than the edelbrocks yet I have more clearance around dons headers.
Yeah - that edelbrock Y pipe fits like CRAP. I know they're an older design and all. But I am glad to hear he is still making them. Just need to get my TGO account approved to send PMs.
