Look for straigt pipe or idea
Im looking for a straight pipe for my 1987 Trans-am.. I could just go ahead and gut the cat, but what is everyone doing to their cat. Any inprovemnts? How much louder?

Straight pipes pretty much sound like ****. That and the modded converter are going to make it really sound like that.

you are just talking about a straighted pipe cat right...? it will sound much better but IMO you need full exhaust and headers to get a real nice sound. gutting it will leave ya with a hollow type of sound
