Going from dual cats to single hi-flow, thoughts?

I 'm looking at gettin' blownbird's SLP set-up. I have a 5.7L with factory 2 cat exhaust. I'm kickin' myself in the butt for askin' this question, but this will improve my exhaust flow, right? My concern was going to the single cat configuration over the duals I have now.

Thanks in advance,
JD

I havnt heard of someone swapping it that way before, but I think if what you have is stock then yes it will flow better. However, I think that the aftermarket dual cat setup with dual high flow cats might be even better but Im not sure about that. That system is 3 inch right. I know that 3 inch is supposed to support quite a bit of power.

The main reasonfor this swap, is because i have a hellacious leak in my dual cat Y-pipe that can't be repaired because it's between the pipes that run parallel. I ran over a bear at 75 mph (see my post on the exhaust board for a full expanation). The whole situation kinda sucks, but I would like to get the headers.

See this thread:

Long and short of it, according to random tech, is that two of their 2.25" converters will flow 600cfm+ whereas one of their 3" converters will flow around 500cfm.

The problem of course is that the manifold to cat pipes will have to be custom made.

In the long run, I don't know what's better... an SLP Y-pipe with a single 3" cat, or stock manifold-cat pipe with the twin 2.25" converters.

I'll tell ya what's better!! No cat at all!! lol.....

I would get that system he has up for sale and just slap a straight pipe in place of that converter and call it a day. That'll flow better than your current setup.

Unfortunately, we have emmisions out here. But I am thinking about fabbing up an off-raod pipe to replace the dual cat setup if I don't hear back from blownbird. I haven't herd from him yet, so we'll just have to see. The track opens up on the 13th, so i'm gettin kinda antsy.

Thanks guys,
JD
