Re: 92 trans am upper door hinge
Are you looking for a complete hinge because the hinge itself is bent & messed up? Or is yours just "sloppy" & the door is sagging?
Since the hinges are bolted to the car & welded to the door...They aren't exactly an easily replaceable assembly. If the door is just sagging & rubbing on the door sill, then all you really need is new hinge pins which can be picked up at any Autozone/Pep Boys/O'Riellys. Dorman #38401 $10 at Autozone.

$10 pins is all it needs if the metal of the hinges aren't bent up and I would question if the body shop knows what they are doing if they can't tell the difference between what it needs. When the pin wears out real bad that happens. Go ahead & do both sides since it is there already. And a shop should be capable of sourcing the parts it needs themselves. If a Customer has to find parts? Then they don't. Last shop that pulled that on me? I pulled my car & took it somewhere else.
And labor cost to install pins vs cutting the old hinges off, welding the new (used OEM ones whos hinges may live awhile/may not) ones, repainting.....

I'm not being a jerk, I'm serious. The problem with an upper hindge is that it's not an easy repair. 90% of the time the hole in the hinge gets elongated so even installing aftermarket "bushings" it's possible to still have slop in the door. The factory replacement kit includes a backing plate that's supposed to be used due to the amount of stress on that part of the structure; a very labor intensive repair.
Here's the "bushing" fix:

Here's the kit to do it the "right way":

Since your spending over $100 no matter what and the door has got to be removed in order to make this repair anyway,........ your best way to save agrivation and time is to buy a good replacement door.
P.S. When I need a door the FIRST THING I CHECK is how much the top hinge rattles. If it's tight, I'll look closer at the door for other defects, if it's sloppy I'll move on and find another door !
