lincoln mig welder 100/115v owners out there

Hi
anyone outhere with this welder, do you find that the 0.6mm/.023 number wire burns hotter and penetrates better than using the .030 in this machine. By the way its converted to gas.
thanks

What model are you referring to? I have a MIG Pak 15 (the bigger one) and I like the .030 flux cored wire, generates the deepest welds but splatteres like a *****. The thinner .023 wire makes some nice deep welds, but at a price of higher consumption of wire.

penetraion is usually the same as the wire diameter. the wire speed controls the heat output. unless you're over heating the base metal there should be no noticable differance between .023 and .030 other than .030 taking more power to run, which may be the reason you think you have less penetration.
