how do i fix this?

I was driving down a 1 way and i nailed it to pass some slow granny and the next thing i hear is BANG!. i thought i had broke a U joint or blown a tire or something. turns out that my custom fabbed TH 400 mount had ripped out of the frame, leaving a hole about 5"x2" where it used to bolt up on the passenger side.

it's pretty obvious that i'm gonna have to slide some 1/4" flat stock in there to brace the area and maybe weld some angle iron around the "frame" or something but crap this sucks. i was gonna race it this weekend too

I'll post pics as soon as i get it up on stands.

Thanks for any advice,
Dave

i'd think 11ga would be enough. usually pretty easy to patch some metal in for fix the frame.

If your going to open up the rail you might as well make a U shape to put in there for extra strength in that area. It could never hurt and its a little extra reassurance

well, i fabbed the bracket:
(sitting next to it is what was on there before, the piece that ripped out)

and put it in:

It's working great so far, fit like a dream. I'm a bit worried about the grade-3 bolts but they should hold up... grade-8 coming soon

lol, i work in a casino. i did it in the engineering department late at night...

I cooked a mustang earlier with it and it seems to be holding up fine. My shifter cable is a little out of adjustment i noticed, but that's easially fixed... :lala:
