I would like to know what problems I may run into if I just buy the 4 inch pipe and all the elbows. Seems like it would be cheap and easy to do if you had the right tools. There is a diesel parts shop in town that I can get the parts from.

Only problem I've had was with welding exhaust... Its a real PITA to get to the top 1/3 of the pipe if the pipe is installed on the car.

What I was thinking of doing is from the mufflex y-pipe back since I have that already on. From there I want to fit it all together and just tack weld it in place in several spots to hold it. Then drop it pipe down with the car in the air on jackstands and let the rear end hang down enough to weld all the way around it. That should work I hope. I think I may be able to pull this off for about $200 counting a muffler. Way cheaper than mufflex.

wow that would be awsome ...sounds like youve thought it out pretty good already ...what about ground clearance or clearance where it bends to go over the axle ??

i dont know personally but just a thought im sure someone will have already done it and be able to say how much room they had or didnt have im curious of this also because i could only imagine the tone that would put out of the rear of the car ..keep us posted to what you do i would like to hear a sound clip of one of the cars with a system like that on it if anyone has one or when you get yours done see about posting one for us to drool over..LOL

I welded the 3 inch Flow master cat bac with a single 3 inch in 3 inch out drivers side mandrel bent exhaust system. The way you explained you would attempt it above . Always in search of a better mouse trap I Purchased a 3 to 4 inch reducer with out the flange(I believe there only sold in pairs) from jegs . Cut off my 3 inch muffler right where the pipe slides into the muffler. Called up mufflex and ordered only the 4 "muffler and the 90 degree elbow that flows out from the drivers side. And of coarse you always have to do some type of pipe fitting I cut some and tacked it up and welded the exhaust with out having to purchase the whole kit and I sold the other 3" muffler for 70 bucks.
I also went from a 4 " to a 5" inch chrome tip out the bac .
Im going to have a 1/4 mile run sound clip real soon. At WOT it sounds just as loud as some duals.
