Got CF

It finely came in the mail.
I all ready learned some thing about it:
It's like fiber glass and will get in you hands and bother the crap out of you.
Ware gloves.
It is only a matter of time.
I could start playing with it this weekend if I wanted to, but it would not be vacuum formed and not with the epoxy resin I wanted to use.
Now that I have it I realy want the rest of the vacuum forming stuff and the long cure resin I picked out (system 2000 with 60minute hardener).
It is very drapie, saggy and soft.

Also, when it breaks, it shatters and sends tiny razor sharp shards of it everywhere...I have a small piece of it permently embedded into my thumb

yea I have seen the ricers that have CF bumpers after they wreck.
It is not friendly after it's broken.
I'm going to make any thing I can from this stuff. This is a heavy thick unidirectional weave for long parts (cut the weave down the side for long strong parts). I will get a small roll of 2X2 plain weave when I see one for the right price for small stuff and some nice looking stuff for a top layer like a mutidirectional 4X4 weave (looks nice, strong but more $).
I think I will get some carbon fiber/colored kevlar hybrid for some thing a little different if it's not going to be a painted part.
I would like to be able to make:
Big parts some day I would like to make bolt on frount fenders, hoods, bumpers all paintable, I don't want to look like a ***** with bare carbon fiber panels and maybe sell them.
I will have to start small:
Tubes, and sell them on ebay.
Hose couplers from one size to a nother, for sale.
Maybe some brackets.
Any little part would be fair game.
Body armor.
That flat part behind the rear hach.
Wrap carbon fiber around metal fabricated parts to protect them and make them stronger.
Rear diff cover.
