Anyone made a good looking plate to cover the hole in the firewall when getting rid of heater/ac? I'm in the middle of making mine and just wondering how everyone else did theirs.

I just used the original box as a template,then refined the pattern freehanded,just to give it a little cleaner look.I'm a stainless fabricator by trade,so I made mine from polished stainless.But aluminum would be better/lighter.I just used what was free.

75 bucks!!!! Man I just traced my old one on the firwall and cut the same shape out of aluminum. Painted it black so you can't tell. Cost me about 5 bucks and about hour of my time. Their is no way I would pay 75 bucks.

When I just had the top of the box removed, I made a cover out of plexi. I drilled holes for the screws and used weather stripping to seal it. Should work on the firewall also. You can paint it from the back side and it will be shinny.

I can;t post pics, but if you check out my site, you can see what I did. I used 2 small plates, and sealed them with calking. I tack welded mine in place. Then primed and painted and coated them with antirust coating (POR-15). The whole engine bay is coated in it. My site have a buch of pics. Hope this helps.

I made mine out of thin gauge steel, and then painted it to match. You can see the outline in white. That is actually dirt that showed up under the flash.

Nice. Yeah I am sure it looks way better in real life. . Great idea. Mine is def much more hack job, I hope to someday swap over 1 big piece for the entire wall, like 69's can do. Looks so sharp.

I made mine out of a sheet of aluminum....actually a STOP sign . The back of it wasn't scratched at all so it polished up nicely. Made it bigger than the stock heater box opening so it covers most of the passenger's side firewall.

Looks like just a piece of polished aluminum.

I used a Flanger and then welded in patch panels, looks pretty good, as soon as I clean up the stuff on the other side I will smooth it out with some filler and repaint it so it looks nicer than the black primer thats on it now.

I modified one from an old S-10 truck. I welded sheet metal over it and painted it.

wires aren't that big a deal when building a car.

I had to go from all stock to a cutom painless wiring set up. That took me FOREVER to install. But I am done now and have all new wires
