Fabbed up a new MAP/coil bracket
I had to replace my coil so I decided that since the old one was just sitting down and rattling around on the top of the trans tunnel and decided to make a mount for it while I was at it and decided to throught the map sensor on it while I was at it.

I only lurk around sporadically, and Fabrication isn't one of my pressing issues.
That being said, it does look cool, and getting the coil up out of the
cramped area by the distributor has to be an improvement.
Why the thicker block at the mounting bolt hole?
It looks like a long lever arm to be mounted at one point. Any problems
with the assembly rotating at the mount point?
thanks,
kk

I’m a form follows function guy myself… no use in making anything bigger/heavier then it needs to be and not a big fan of clutter, so this is what I came up with:

The coil bracket bolts the stock location and the ignition box bracket mounts behind the driver’s side hood hinge where I’ve been making more room since I’ve converted from the car’s original mass air setup. The wiring harness tucked along the factory harness, and I modified the factory harness near the coil with plug in ends to either plug this coil in or put a factory connector type coil in it’s place, same wiring harness…
My map is mounted in roughly the same location as yours, but since the thing really already has a mounting bracket built into it I didn’t bolt it to another bracket, wiring harness… well I took the mas air wiring, pulled it out of the harness going to the front of the car, pulled out the 2 extra wires, and repackaged it in the loom going across the back of the car and repined the 3 remaining wires to the MAP connections on the new ECM and then crimped proper weatherpacks, loomed and taped anything exposed so it looks factory and the wiring is exactly the length I need to get to the map.
