Diamond Plated Aluminum Headliner

Has anyone fabbed up a ttop headliner out of diamond plated aluminum? If so what were the mounting options, screws or tig welded? Thinking of doing this but was just wanting to see if anyone else had attempted first.

What would you weld the AL to?

I don't think it'd be very comfy, and I doubt anyone has done it. Probably glare a lot too. Maybe anodized...

Couldn't you weld to the braces around the ttops and at the front and back of the roof. With all the trim off there is enough space to do so. Providing the interior light is at the front above the rearview mirror all wiring would be easy to get to after the whole was cut in the aluminum for the light housing. The seat belts would worry me a bit though. I could use the stock plastic cover to insure they wouldn't rub against the metal and slowly but surely cut them.

I've thought about the glare but it would be above your head and light doesn't really directly hit it. If it was a dash pad it would be different. Futher I wasn't going to leave the whole thing bare, I was going to semi cover it with fabric and leave a Z28 logo or a nice bowtie in diamond plate. I really don't think it would look bad at all.

Just because someone hasn't done it before doesn't mean that it would be a bad thing, after all isn't that the point. With a little care and patience I think it would turn out nice. Just not sure on the mounting.

would be to much work with the bends to make it look right, just my opinion tho.

Yea, it's really uhh, 'difficult' to weld aluminum diamond plate to your sheet metal roof. But yea, you could make up brackets and weld those in place, then use sheet metal screws to attach your diamond plate to it.
I still think it's a weird idea though. Not something i'd do, but I guess take a few pictures if you do it, and we can judge you

ZRO - That's an awesome sig pic. man-bear-pig!

if you only want a logo of some sort showing why not get a headliner cut the logo out of it then just put enough diamond plate behind it to cover it maybe that would work, what do you guys think?
