Hood Pins
Hood Pins
What would be the best way to put hood pins on a car. I would think you just line it up and drill the holes, but i have seen were people do that and it looks like crap. the pins dont line up with the holes and start bending the metal plates and i dont want that.

Re: Hood Pins
I just put hood pins in this past weekend. It really isnt that difficult, just take your time , measure and re measure before you start making holes. Always start with a small pilot hole first and make sure your holes line up and slowly make the hole bigger constantly making sure you are lined up. Take your time and you will be fine

Re: Hood Pins
i put mine in place of the hood bumpers that are about centered behind the headlights on my TA. I installed the post part, put a small dab of RTV on the tip and closed the hood on the pin. the RTV transferred to the hood and i drilled my first pilot hole from the bottom up, then made sure things were right and finished the hole down.

If you want the snitz, get a set of aerocatch latches:

Re: Hood Pins
What I did is measured a good mounting location with the hood opened. Made appropriate markings with chalk, then closed the hood. Lined up the points and drilled down from the top. Opens and closes flawlessly...
