97 Catera Seats: Make them work.
97 Catera Seats: Make them work.
Ok, here's something different. Picked up a set of tan, leather seats out of a Catera. 97 like the title says. No rips, and just need a good cleaning. $100 for the front and rear. I had to grab them. You can't beat that price.
So here's the negatives. Back seat isn't going to fit without modification. I haven't even messed with the seat backs (not sure they're F-Body friendly at ALL.) I think I can make the seat bottom work, but it's too wide and I'm throwing around the idea of taking the cover off, cutting the internal seat support and re-welding it, then cutting the foam to match and then reinstalling the hog rings (assuming its got them, haven't looked yet) in a new location, taking up the extra slack on the upholstry.
So ok, obviously I might not be able to use the rear seats.
So how about the fronts? Again, a negative. Power seats is good, but not out of a 4-door. No way to get into the back seat, right?
I'm throwing around a couple of ideas here, but I don't know a whole lot about wiring a power seat. I've never had them before, or messed with them. I've occasionally driven a car with power seats, but that's about it.
Here are my ideas:
1. Get some power hookups from a 2-door, and swap them over.
Possibly won't work, because I don't know if the Catera came in 2-door.
2. Get power setup from another F-Body, and hook that up.
I'm not sure if the F-Body has the same number of controls as a Catera?
3. Say screw the power seats, take the hinges off, take the seat tracks off, and mount up some manual tracks and hinges.
Obviously this is a last resort.
Your thoughts?

Not worth the hassle. The CATERA is nothing like any other GM it does not have that "traditional" GM compaitbility where things can work with little hassle. The CATERA is a opel (European division of GM). They also never came in 2 door. Sell them or possibly re-do your old seats with the material.
