made two stb's!
whipped these up with some scrap tubing i had in my shed. i think they turned out really great. the first is made out of square tubing and is on my 84 firebird. this was the first one i made and you can kinda tell with the way it's put together. mainly where it mounts to the actual strut tower.

the second one i built was for my little bro's car. he's got an 89 iroc with an lb9 in it. the hood clearance was totally different than i expected and so i had to compensate. that "box" in the middle was made from 2" box steel that i cut into the shape and then boxed the underside. the tubing is 1" .083" wall round tubing. the mounting pads are a much nicer piece and are much thicker as well. this turned out REALLY good, but i've got something insane like 10 hours in it. not sure it would be worth it to build another one for a tpi car like this one. i just did this one like this cause it's my brother and such. anyhow, here's the pics of that one:

i'm going to make another one for my sportcoupe, and possibly for a couple of locals as well...maybe more if there's interest?

Re: made two stb's!
i might could do that, but the 2 points are alot easier to make, which will keep cost down to you. the tpi one will not look like this one posted, it simply took too long to build. i'll have to do a slight redesign to cut down on production time (sorry guys, i'm not putting in 10+hours on a bar unless i'm getting really well compensated). if i did a 3point, they'd be custom built for each order, but that's something that you and i would have to discuss further.

Re: made two stb's!
That's a sharp 2 pt on the carbed version. Just the one bolt on each side holding it in? Did you just drill and use a through bolt and nut ?
Have you thought about making it adjustable and then adding preload? A double adjuster nut from spohn and a couple of tube->thread adapters from lefthander chassis would accomplish that. If you wanted to go all out that is....

Re: made two stb's!
it's got two bolts on each side. the nuts are welded to the angle iron i used for the mounting pads. i don't think i'm gonna do it that way again, and i'm using something different for my mounting pads now.
i'm gonna keep this one simple honestly. when you start talking about getting left hand threaded double adjusters and blah blah blah, stuff starts getting expensive, and the fabrication time would get out of hand. i'm out of work right now, which is how i'm able to get so much accomplished right nw, but i'm having to budget every breath i take, lol! i've got a good budget right now to get 5 of these built i think. i'm gonna do everything in my power to make them universal. i don't have a stock tbi air cleaner assembly though, everything i have is aftermarket. i also don't have an 82-87 car with all accessories still in place to insure that placement will be perfect. i'd really like to do these as custom one-offs and people just bring me there cars, but that will only help a handfull of people.

Hey- what would you charge me for one- just the round tube over my TPI 305- it is an 85 IROC. Also I have a IROC turbo hood- so clearance shouldn't be too bad. The 1 you made for your bro looks sweet- but 10 hrs is too long to mass produce them, but if it would take less time and be easier to make one tube go right over the engine it might take less time and be affordable. Let me know what you think and if you'll make me one how much shipped to 14532 NY? Thanks.

Re: made two stb's!
i can do one from 1"x.083" square tubing for $80 + shipping. round is too hard to bend currently. i may offer round tubing once i make a few so i can afford a tubing bender. these will be high quality pieces though, i can promise that.

Re: made two stb's!
i'll get back to you about pics of a square one for tpi, i haven't built any yet. i'm just getting this off the ground. i'm hoping to build some next week, depending on how things go with some other projects i got going on.
shipping looks to be about $12. how soon are you looking to get this by so i can have a time frame on when i need to get all my stuff in order?

Re: made two stb's!
No problem- want it soon- but I know it takes time. I think the round is way nicer- but understand it is harder to make. But I definitely want to see a pic of the square TPI one. Just let me know when you get some pics. Thanks.

shipping will be a LOT more than $12 i'd imagine, that length can't be cheap to ship fyi.

Re: made two stb's!
Why the flat bar on the TPI one? My Edelbrock 3-pt has a round tube all the way across.

not yet man. i'm working like 15 hour days right now and i've just not been able to get these done yet. hopefully once things settle down a little with my new job, i'll be able to get these out. i'm also tied up with another project that HAS to be done by next week.
sorry, i know that's not what you want to hear.
