3rd gen power steering help
im having a hard time setting up my power steering pump on my 86 z/28 i have a stock 86 pump with no brackets. i am also running a 1970 350 block. i have checked with summit and jegs and nobody can help me out.
the old style 70 and up brackets will not work due to the power steering pulley hitting the gear box and i dont think the stock brackets will work with the old style 350 block. i just need the correct brackets.
i am running stock v belt setup on the pump with a long water pump and the pump is on the stock location (drivers side) any help would be great im getting very frustrated. thanks all

Re: 3rd gen power steering help

I just installed an early 70's 350 in my 92 Camaro. I had a V6 so I couldn't use the original pump. I got a pump and brackets from a 70's Chevy pickup truck in a local junkyard and they bolted right up.
Have you tried a shorter belt? Maybe you just have too long a belt and its allowing the pump to swing out far enough to hit the steering gear?
