Re: Flush Rear bumper
Interesting.....
I've never seen a notchback-style hatch on a 4th gen. Your car?
I think with the way 4th gen tail lights bulbs, it doesn't work as well.

OMG thats SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick!!! I LOVE it! Suspension is up next i think! Yes its my car, my 96 WS6. The hatch is an aftermarket glass replacement that i molded onto my stock hatch. Most people just attach it like glass but i had to have it blended. Its called the RK Sport Sportback http://www.rksport.com/main/part_det...mdid=1&catid=4
Here are some more of my car, if you're interested

And back to topic a little, thought you might all like to see a Callaway 4th gen, which had a flush rear and IMO is the best looking Camaro ever from the back

Re: Flush Rear bumper
Looking around the rear of the rear lights on the Callaway Camaro, you can tell that the bumper cover goes out, then down. They obviously couldn't go straight down, but had to go outwards some first, then down to provide room for a crash impact cushion under the bumper cover.

Re: Flush Rear bumper
back on the the topic of a third gen with a shaved rear bumper. i agree that the stock bumper sticks out way to far
0000000000-2.jpg?t=1273370972
but i don't think a rolled rear pan/ flush rear bumper look would work
000000000000000000000000000-1.jpg?t=1273371186
there would be no place to put an absorber like the stock egg crate thing

or even a mustang foam absorber

im pretty sure its illegal to remove the absorber. and if you use an absorber like the mustang one you will still have a small lip. but not as big as stock probably just a couple of inches inches like this

this is actually the look i like best. what i was wondering about is are there any better choices for absorbers than the mustang. and also could you just cut down the stock bumper or would you have to make a whole new bumper out of fiberglass. i remember reading a thread on fiberglass forums where a guy shortened the bumper on, i think, a Buick, he made fiberglass mold of the stock bumper then cut the mold to achieve the desired look. then used the mold to create a new bumper that didn't stick out so far. would that process work to shorten one of our bumpers.

A Fierobird! If you like it, great, but I'm not feelin' it. But then, I've never cared for the notchbacks to begin with. Senior Member

Re: Flush Rear bumper
hsilived is a member on here but he didn't post his build thread over her cuz alot of camaro owners are purists that don't usualy apreciate this kind of work. and i agree that there are alot of stock ***** on this site but thats just the way people are. if you want to see his thread go to fiberglassforums.com. its over 900 posts long but its very interesting to read. you have to register to that forum to see it tho. after i get a another vehicle to drive i am gonna try and build a custom bumper similar to how hsilived did. but before the bumper i am gonna practice fiberglassing on a few smaller things like spoiler and interior pieces. wont be much longer tho my birds about dead.

He should post more often anyway.
The thing with fiberglass bumpers though. If you ever run into something or get rearended. The fg would shatter/crack too easy.Maybe adding some plastisizer or something.

Re: Flush Rear bumper
whats plastisizer?
thats my bigest concern about making a fiberglass bumper. but i figured i could make a mold of it so i could easily make a new one if the original got damaged beyond repair.

Re: Flush Rear bumper
Just a made up word, basically it means adding something to allow the fiberglass to flex w/out cracking so easy.Much like they do for paint on bumpers.

Btw, here is a direct quote from that thread by hsilived:

I've seen on some camaro boards, the members bashing people for wanting to customize their own car.
