89 formula build
Ok guys, i finally decided to post a little about my build, i hope you guys enjoy, the work isn't great but for an 18 year old college student, i think its ok lol
anyways, i got the car in march of this year for my 18th bday present to myself, i paid $200 for the car and towed it home, the guy sold it so cheap because he couldn't find out what was wrong with it (other than all the missing parts under the hood) so i got it home, replaced the missing parts along with a few new ones and noticed the fuel pump wasn't priming...soo i replaced that and she ran like a champ, it even came with the LT1 cam mod so i cant complain, the interior on the other hand was horrid, its still an on going restoration but i cant seem to find a nice used center console or head liner, anyways, the carpeting and all interior and all other work was done by me in the driveway of my house so don't judge to harshly...and most of all enjoy
heres how it was when i got it home

here is what i have done to it so far

I gotta say, love what you did with the dash. The inside of the gauges look really cool. How did you paint those needles? And are you able to see them at night?

Re: 89 formula build
thanks, and i painted them with some testors translucent red model paint and yes you can see them, they look really cool because i put a single red LED in each gauge to give it a mean sinister look

Awesome. Was wanting to do this but wasn't sure about it. If you can, I'd like to see a shot a night if you don't mind.
For $200 that's a steal. As long as there isn't any major rust, but looks like it's coming along pretty good man!

Re: 89 formula build
there was almost no rust, it was kept in a garage for quite awhile, the only rust was on the rear hatch lid and it was minimal surface rust, nothing has been rusted threw, ill get a shot of the updates and a night shot as soon as i finish my custom console (consist of fiberglass, brushed aluminum and carbon fiber)

Re: 89 formula build
You didn't drive it while sitting on the bucket did you? LOL. I think you've got a good start. The engine bay looks worlds better without the leaves and with all the parts put back where they go. Looking at the engine bay it looks like it is pretty much rust free minus maybe some surface rust. Interior wise, keep looking. One part at a time and you'll find what you need. Have you checked your local junkyards and keep an open mind, you might find a console in something else that you like and can modify to work.

Right on, I'm anxious to see what you can do with it. Any experience with fiberglass or is this your first time?

Re: 89 formula build
i have a bit of experience, i do alot of custom sub enclosures out of fiberglass and MDF of coarse, im actually using this stuff called kitty hair, or bondo hair, its simular to fiberglass, it just has the the matting already mixed in, when i took the old carpet out, i kitty haired the entire floor of the car to strengthen it up a bit and for sound deadening and i also used some dynomat or whatever its called haha, so far ive only put about $400 into the car and that include the purchase price

Way to do things on the cheap. There's always lots of people out there that want to know how to do things with quality but cheap. Make sure you document your console build. This way if it turns out good you can post pics in the "Fabrication" section.

Re: 89 formula build
Missed that. Wrong wheels, hood and spoiler for a Formmy. The dash trim with the WS6 susp tag is missing. Looks like a base but youd have to look at the RPO tag for sure
For as little as he paid, I think the mods are doing it a favor, even the roll on paint job
