First and second gens have real subframes for the SFC to attach to. The SFC completely make the car a full frame car. Third gens are a total unibody car. There are no real front and rear subframes. It's all just different layers and thicknesses of sheetmetal. The third gen SFC are designed to join these sheetmetal subframes together to add more rigidity but don't really make it a full frame car.
Unfortunately, many of the inexpensive components available for first and second gens will not work in any way on a third gen. The third gen was a ground up redesign of the f-body with nothing similar to the earlier generations. Without a lot of modifications, you need to use third gen specific aftermarket components.

No, buy a specific sfc for 82-92 F-body, it'll fit and work better. Listen to what AlkyIROC is saying there, it's the basic fundamentals of the design of our cars...
