-8 AN fuel line for Supply and Return - Stock Tank

I've dropped my tank and stock fuel lines out of the car this past weekend. I have a walbro 255 intank pump right now already in the tank. I am going to be running -8 AN line from my regulator to the tank for both my supply and return lines. I have a couple questions.

Does anyone have a picture on where you welded a fitting at the top of the tank for their return? Also, I know i should be using a steel fitting for the top of the tank. What's the fitting i should be looking for? Is it ok for the fuel to just dump in from the top of the tank on the return like this? I am not going to sump my tank. (I will run dual walbro pumps eventually)

Next thing, for the supply line I was thinking of leaving the factory 3/8" line coming off the stock pick-up / sending unit about 4". Then from there getting a fitting to go from the stock 3/8" line to an AN fitting. From the AN fitting I would put an addaptor then a -8 fitting on the other end to the fuel filter. This is the best way I can come up with doing this with the intank pump. What fitting would I need for the factory supply line to convert it over to AN?

Thanks in advance.

Most of the aftermarket companies (Earls, russell, etc.) Make adaptor fittings for NPT to AN. I used 3/8 to 8-AN on my IROC. I would use a bulkhead fitting if you are going to use a non-stock return setup. That would allow you to just drill a hole and go, rather than dealing with trying to weld the tank. (It's really thin metal and it's easy to burn-through.)

Good luck!

The factory sender isnt NPT, its saginaw. Search for female 16x1.5mm. Feed is threaded, return is slip fit and clamped

It is a waste of money to go AN8 over AN6 since the stock 3/8 tubing will limit the system. Theres no reason for AN8 return line for anything on the street

How would I get the bulkhead fitting to seal? Not sure I understand how to get the fitting in the tank with the bulkhead nut. (Cant get to the inside of the tank to tighten it) Where would the best place to mount the return fitting?

here's mine not a great pic but i put my return right next to the filler neck and used a steel aeroquip fitting i got the biggest size for # 8 so there was material for the shop to weld around it and i had the shop weld one on the back of the bottom of the tank for my feed line i has to remove the baffles in the tank to so i could clean out all the metal that got in there Name: DSC00139.jpg
