too much air gap between tubing and body.Some places look like there is 1/8'' to 1/4'' gap that's a lot of weld to fill in. Fittment is the key to sound welds and a stiff body and winning races. grind, modify, and cut until the it fits perfectly do it right the first time or u will be doing it again when welds break I would weld it full length too just weld 6'' at a time and be careful not to burn through the thin underbody panels

you look to be on the right track. i would suggest welding a flat plate on the ends where you will be welding to the cars structure. the sheetmetal of the subframes is rather thin, and the added plate will provide more surface area to weld to the subframes, and add more strength.
