I picked up this car yesterday , it runs and drives , just needs a rear wheel cylinder for the brakes . I'm thinking drag racer but the road racer thread looks like fun. I raced dirt track for years but these cars don't really make a good candidate for that plus it would completely trash it in a year or less . It is a 5speed/305 car , complete and stock except for a few ******* very poorly done "mods" ( a word I shall use loosely in this case) . We have a ton of old cars along with the wrecked big rigs here . Body is great with no cancer . I will be scrounging for a 350/powerglide/9inch combo if I go strip on it.

 

Should be fun either direction! Why not go LS in that one too? Sounds like you got a wrecking yard... I'm sure there is a 5.3 you could build up

 

I thought about that but you get into a lot of money doing those swaps , might be something to consider later. I think I will drag race it , do a 350 /powerglide combo. I was really surprised on how straight the body is on it. And you could start out cheap and upgrade as time/money allows
