just an idea, not somthing im actually going to do yet, just want to see what people have to say about it. take a normal hood without cowl or louvers with a tbi engine, and instead of running snorkles to the front of the engine, 1 or 2 functional hood scoops (depending on single or dual snorkle, dual would look way better, single would look unbalanced) that were air tight to an extremely shortened snorkle, wich would produce a ram air effect (?)

bear with me, i did this on paint just so you could kind of see what im talking about. i drew where the scoops would be in white...on microsoft paint lol

so you want nostrils? why not just get the twin turbo hood with the nostrils?

i think that hood only works on that car mostly because its nowhere near the body lines of a thirdgen, something small and bubbly on the hood would look like a stick on scoop that one should be slapped for installing. if you wanted vents try some trans am ones or something.

 

This sort of thing has been done on many cars in the past. Cars like the challengers, 60s firebirds, 70s barracudas, lt-1 camaros, even some dodge darts had twin scoops in roughly the arrangement you describe. It can work but there are a few details to contend with.

Problem I see is making it flow with the body lines. The two lines that run down the length of the hood on either side of where your scoops would be are going to kind of force you to have something that is angled as well. Putting a straight scoop would clash with these lines and tend to make things look crooked/out of place. You'll notice on some aftermarket hoods these lines are straighten and others the scoops get wider to the rear to match (which can look odd as well).

Still this could be done. Think about it and check out cars mentioned above see how they made it work. Once you get a plan together its just sheet metal work and a mega ton of finishing.

 

Fab it out of sheet of hard foam, sit it on the hood and see how it looks.
Cheap and can modify shape as you go.
Can even paint it for a final look.
