Do you realize how easy it would be to make a 3rd gen push rod rear suspension?
because of how the rear shocks are situated in the car, it looks like a pushrod suspension can be done quite easily. theres a company that did it for the 1st gen mustang and it looks and works great. i think something similar would work well for our cars. now if only my wallet agreed..

Keep in mind that pushrod suspensions are typically used on tube chassis or monocoque based cars, most of which have extremely high rates of chassis twist stiffness and also the mounts in the exact places they need to be.
In the case of a 3rd gen, the chassis has a pretty low torsional rigidity and also would need to be modified for the mounting points in the right places.
A full out road race car with a tube chassis could use it and it would work well - on a street car, probably going to be a big disappointment.

yep, i know. the way its done in the first gen mustangs with stock bodies is the stress points are mounted to a separate plate. the same could be done with these cars. the least invasive way to mount it to the car would be small plates like those used for roll cages and the like and have both shocks on the same plate. i think the most difficult part would be getting the geometry correct.

this thread is a bit of a thought exercise. i might try it down the road in conjunction with a current project that includes newer shock tech. im just trying to explore it and discuss the ease of adding what would essentially be a pushrod suspension module system in place of the stock shock setup.
i wonder, would mounting the shocks laterally offer more advantages other that saving space?
