Clutch Pivot Ball Mount
Hey all! Been thinking all day about why my clutch pivot ball that goes into my bell crank bar hasn't been fitting in the hole I've been putting it in; it's the wrong hole! (Heard that one before)
Anyway, turns out, the one thing I forgot to check on the engine I just put in my car, is that clutch pivot ball mount. It doesn't exist on this block, and there's not even a pad to tap into.
But, fret not, I came up with a solution; fabricate 'till you get it right.
Made a neat little piece that threads into the tapped area above the oil filter (Which I'm assuming, after my googling, is actually for an oil pressure sending unit) and goes up to where the tapped hole would be, and then welded a nut on the backside of the bent lawnmower blade- I mean, the "new clutch pivot mount".
So, if you're in a similar situation, here's a way out. Sticks tight to the backside of the block, so it doesn't have any rocking motion to it. I'll let you know if this thing breaks or something terrible happens.

Pre 1962 283s, and probably 265s.
Also, it didn't work out like I had wanted it to. The hole I was gonna use wasn't threaded in this block, so I just welded on a plate to this existing piece I made, and ran the plate to the place where there was a spot for the pivot mount, below the oil filler tube.

Re: Clutch Pivot Ball Mount
You might be able to modify this is your block isn't tapped .

Actually, that's what I was going to do if I needed a back up plan.
Just use the bellhousing; but I didn't need to. It's all together now. I would've taken pictures, but I want the damned thing on the road and I didn't have a camera.
