power steering bypass

I was wondering if anyone has ever used a shorter serpentine belt and routed it different to bypass the power steering pully. Does it free up enough HP to be worthwhile?? I don't plan on driving the car alot like this, just at the strip......
I already ripped out my smog pump and put a shorter belt on, and it works great.

I have done this. Does it actually work? I couldn't feel a difference, but one thing is for sure. It CAN'T hurt! I heard that it takes about 3/4 of a hp on straight line wot driving. About 2-3 hp when parallel parking. Another thing that I know works, when your car is idling, turn the wheel, and the engine slows down.
I also took the air pump off and even have a shorter belt, one for everyday driving and one belt for the strip.

I wouldn't disconnect the power steering. You may need its assistance if something goes wrong at the track. You never know when you might need to turn into a skid and it would suck if you wrecked because you couldn't turn the wheel fast enough.

Yeah, i did some g-tech testing and i could't realy notice a difference. Since i run street tires and have to go around the waterbox i need to make a sharp turn to get around this at my local track, and it is hard to crank that wheel with no power. i hand spun the pully at idle, and it spins freely like a skateboard wheel.....
