Hatch hook misaligned???

Hey guys, I just spent most of my Saturday trying to figure out why my rear hatch lid will not close properly. I am totally frustrated and am about to give up on this thing unless I can get some advice. As it is right now, the hatch won't close because the hook on the bottom of the lid does not seem to line up properly with the grabbing mechanism in the motor assembly. My original hatch motor finally died recently and the housing and alignment tracks in the assembly were busted up. After trying so many temp fixes, I finally went up and got a different hatch motor assembly that was used but in good shape. I just hooked it up today. The motor works fine and there are no cracks or any other problems with the whole assembly. I just can't seem to get the motor to grab the hook. It is lined up just fine from side to side, but it seems that the hook is misaligned from front to back. I was having a similar problem with my old motor too, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the one I just put in. A few months ago, I also installed new hatch struts and it seems like the problem began after that. I suspect that has something to do with it, but I am not sure how. Any ideas on how to solve this extremely frustrating problem?
